Warrior Girl Dashing, er, Climbing…T-7 and counting

Training by Tying myself to a tree 60′ off the ground

Training: 3 hours of Tree Top Trekking (and no, I am not training for the Ontario Hydro corps, despite the hardhat.)

Lyric of the Day: “Think about it, there must be higher love, Down in the heart or hidden in the stars above, Without it, life is wasted time, Look inside your heart, I’ll look inside mine.”

– Higher Love, Steve Winwood

My first choice of lyric today was “We ain’t about our living in a fantasy” (We Weren’t Born to Follow by Bon Jovi).  That was off the mark  because if if swinging, tiptoeing and dancing from tree-to tree isn’t living in a fantasy, then I don’t know what is. I mean look at the greenery, people!  How blessed we are to live in such spectacular country.

And if you want to learn how to focus in a real hurry, this is a great place to do it: okay, so if I just keep carefully shuffling sideways across this tightwire while focussing on the tree on the other side, nobody gets hurt. Excellent.

Today’s workout was intended as  rest from interval training. Still, it was a challenging upper body workout! Climbing cargo nets, hat stacks and junkyard wrecks will be a piece of cake in comparison. Okay, that may be overstatement on my part.  I do remember the part about running uphill in ski country. Seven days from today, we’ll find out. That is when I will be back here at Horseshoe Valley for the Warrior Dash: running, climbing without wires and hopefully keeping my feet on the ground.
